Emergency Medicine as defined by the International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM ) in 1991 as "A field of practice based on the knowledge and skills required for the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury affecting patients of all age groups with a full spectrum of undifferentiated physical and behavioral disorders. It further encompasses an understanding of the development of pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency medical systems and the skills necessary for this development."
This is a recognized specialty in Nepal. The Emergency Medicine (EM) and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) are fundamental health right of all citizens. In Nepal, there are few training program in EM is undergoing , eg three years DM (Doctorate in Medicine) training programs in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. The candidates are enrolled one or two per year in this program since 2011. Other institutions like BPKIHS ( B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences ) and Patan Academy of Health Sciences started 18 months Fellowship Program in Emergency Medicine to train the doctors who has completed MDGP (Doctor in Medicine in General Practice ). As the establishment of Emergency Department (ED) in various public and private hospitals is increasing in Nepal and abroad, the need for physicians specifically trained in EM is also accelerating. Developing a comprehensive and recognized EM program for training physicians in Nepal must occur simultaneously to meet demand for emergency care services. So, Grande International Hospital, associated with NSEP (Nepalese Society of Emergency Physicians) offers Fellowship Program in Emergency Medicine.

During the training period our trainee will get international experiences in Emergency Medicine and EMS

Duration of Training: - 18 months, may extend up to 24 months
Research Activities:-At least two publication in national or international journal.
Short courses: - BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, NALS, and ISTOL
Number of Candidates: - Two per year
