Annually about 150 Spine surgeries are performed at the Grande International Hospital. The types of surgeries include degenerative spine, disc surgeries, spinal infections, spinal tumors, deformities (Scoliosis, Kyphosis) corrections, spinal trauma, injection procedures etc. The rotation is designed to provide training in the evaluation and management of patients with disorders of the spine. It is expected that upon completion of this rotation, fellows will demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and presentation of disorders of the spine, its connecting ligaments, the spinal cord, the cauda equina, and the spinal roots. Additionally fellows will demonstrate the ability to formulate and implement a diagnostic and treatment plan for diseases of the spine, its connecting ligaments, the spinal cord, the cauda equina, and the spinal roots that are amenable to surgical intervention.

NBMS Specialty in Orthopedics refers to a recognized advanced medical training and certification program in orthopedic surgery offered by the Nepal Board of Medical Specialties (NBMS). This specialty focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of musculoskeletal system disorders, including bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

Orthopedic specialists treat conditions like fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, congenital deformities, and spine disorders. The NBMS certification ensures that the orthopedic surgeon meets national standards of expertise and competence in this field.
